Welcome, my name is Ronke. I live in Austria, work in Tech and write about society, feminism, gender equality and tech.

On Medium, I’m an editor for two amazing publications.

The feminist publication Bitchy where our mission is to “elevate the voices of women around the world.” And for the Point of View that “publishes opinion pieces, also known as Op-Eds, about culture, society, politics, gender, and everything in between or beyond.”

Both were created by June Kirri, our Chief Editor.

Bitchy also has a podcast called “Say the F-Word” where feminists around the world get together to talk about women’s issues. I highly recommend giving us a listen. You’ll learn a lot of new stuff, like, for example, what a merkin is.

Writing is my hobby, and I’d love to do it all the time, but I have a day job that takes up a lot of my time.

I’m a career switcher from science — I have a Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Vienna — into IT. Today I work in cybersecurity.

I currently lead a team of systems engineers at Fortinet, one of the largest cybersecurity vendors in the world.

Promoting more diversity in the tech industry and new approaches to work are very close to my heart for obvious reasons. I mentor and advise young women who want to pursue a career in tech. I hold #IAmRemarkable workshops for women who want to improve their self-promotion skills.

In my podcast, the “Women in Technology Spotlight,” I talk to women working in tech about their careers, what they do and how they got there. By highlighting their stories and their roles, I try to show the diversity of career opportunities in the tech industry.
